Natural Horse Planet Magazine #2

Editorial

Over the past year researchers have continued to delve ever deeper into just what it is that makes us, and the creatures with which we share this planet, behave as we do. Each week new scientific papers add to the volume of knowledge, yet for the average horse rider or owner there is simply not enough time to read through everything new in order to pick the few 'pearls' from the surrounding irrelevant mass. It is as if we were looking at a radar screen on which there is so much background clutter that the objects of interest are drowned out.

At the same time product of pseudo science and unsubstantiated claims are used to support commercial gain, making muddy an already cloudy pool, and producing confusion instead of clarity.

It's all very well making harmony our goal ‫ but how do we know what it is we should be harmonising with? It is science that offers the best possible chance of parting the curtains blocking our view of the inner workings of behavior - whether ours or that of our equine cousins.

The good news is that Natural Horse Planet will be doing the legwork for you - we'll sort through the papers and scientific journals, bringing our readers the latest developments in a format relevant to horse ownership and use.

As international editor I'd like to cordially invite you to join us for what promises to be an enthralling ride - and to wish all our readers an enlightened and peaceful New Year.
