Science-fiction ? Not at all : a large transponder manufacturer boasts the advantages of its product in protecting children from kidnapping and identifying people suffering from Alzheimer's disease; some people have themselves injected voluntarily with electronic chips in order to gain access to discotheques, but they have chosen to do so.
And now from 1st January 2008, in France, this method of identification will be compulsory for all horses and foals before weaning, as is already the case for cats, dogs and other domestic animals. The animals, living beings still considered by the law as pieces of property, have no say in the matter. We decide for them.
Should not this responsibility induce us to reflect and inform ourselves before we act ?
